The XAU Gold Silver Index closed 1.38% higher on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 177.22. The Gold Bugs Index (HUI) was 1.43% higher at 449.61. October gold closed 1.14% higher at $1,056. December silver was 1.80% higher at $17.81. Gold is at an all-time high and the XAU index has recently achieved a new recovery high for the year.

Is there a basis for this latest gold and silver stock rally in light of the recent 10-year cycle peak (as discussed in the interview with The Gold Report in September)?

What would be the justification for it based on the cycles? My answer is that investors are responding to the 10-year cycle peak by running to the precious metals and its related vehicles by treating them as safe havens. The public's fear of a dollar collapse is no secret and has reached the saturation point. According to one recent poll, fully 98% of the public is bearish on the dollar's prospects going forward. This makes for a crowded trade to be sure, but this extreme in sentiment also can create its own momentum and feed on itself for a while. As we've seen in the recent past, fear can become self-fulfilling and while a market move based solely on fear never lasts for long, it can be extremely powerful while it lasts.

Gold, meanwhile, has already reached the $1,040 level, which as mentioned last month as a conservative minimum upside target. In my previous commentary I stated my belief that $1,040-$1,050 would be the upside target for the gold price before the 10-year cycle peaked. It looks increasingly likely that gold will exceed this conservative target and possibly hit the nearest round number benchmark of $1,100 before running into some resistance.

Gold stock internal momentum (GOLDMO) is sufficiently buoyant to allow some (though not all) of the actively traded gold shares to rally. The dominant long-term and intermediate-term momentum indicators (circled) are still in an uptrend, a positive factor for the golds. However, the sub-dominant interim momentum indicator (orange line) isn't to be snuffed at. It's currently in a downtrend and this is what's going to create some cross-currents among the mining shares in the coming days.

We saw a similar configuration in the momentum indicators earlier this summer and it caused us to become selective with our stock picking since some stocks obviously stand to benefit from the rising long-term and interim momentum while other stocks are more responsive to the declining momentum indicator shown here. Of course the question is how to determine which stocks to choose and which to avoid. The answer is *relatively* simple: relative strength. Those stocks which remain above their rising 30-day and 60-day moving averages can be held (a select few can even be purchased from here) while those that are lagging behind and struggling below the 30-day MA should mostly be avoided.

"I'm very optimistic about the value of gold to purchasers going forward. I put it in perspective this way as others have done: in 1980, adjusted for inflation, gold got to over $2,000 an ounce under a set of financial circumstances that people considered quite extreme. Back then it was inflation. The inflation rate was very high and people were really concerned it was going higher and they sought out gold as an asset where they could preserve their wealth in that environment. So under those circumstances gold got to over $2,000 an ounce."

McMillan acknowledges that a "different set of financial circumstances [exists] today," but adds that these circumstances "provide far greater risk to investors and savers than we saw in 1980 and gold is still at only $1,000 an ounce." He concludes, "There's no reason in my view why [gold] won't continue to increase back through $2,000 an ounce over the next two to three years as people realize that these financial concerns are not going away and in fact may be getting worse. So I think this is a long ways from being over and I'm not convinced we'll see dramatic changes in the price but I think you can expect a steady march through $1,200 and $1,500 and over the next two to three years, possibly through $2,000 an ounce."

The president and CEO of Bard Ventures Ltd. (TSX.V:CBS), Eugene Beukman, sees a stabilizing global economy as the key for the molybdenum and base metals price recovery. Bard Ventures is a junior mining and exploration company with mineral interests in British Columbia and Ontario, focusing on molybdenum, copper, zinc and silver.

"I think that's the million-dollar question," he said when asked if the global economic recovery would continue. "I do believe that we've actually turned the corner and we're at the stage where there are a lot more plans coming available for venture capital and exploration. We've seen only in the last two to three weeks that some of the large financings that have occurred in the sense that $20 to $70 million bought deals have been announced and completed. So we believe that the whole resource market will be turning and we look forward to a great 2010 and who knows what after that but I believe there's definitely been a turnaround."

Ross Orr, president and CEO of BacTech Mining. (TSX.V:BM), said he would be happy if the price of gold continued at current levels without rising from here. His company uses bacterial oxidation and bioleaching technologies for separating precious metals from sulphide ores and concentrates for gold mining companies.

Said Orr, "If [the gold price] did nothing from here I would be very happy. I don't need $2,000 gold. This is perfect. I'm looking at projects where I've got production and capital costs and everything all in for say $400 [an ounce]. That is a nice margin. If it goes to $2,000 it's just anarchy out there. It's hard enough finding projects now with the price of gold where it is because everybody just sort of pulls everything close to their chest."

He added, "As the price of gold goes up people's expectations change dramatically. It just becomes more of a greed factor I guess is what it really is. One thing about gold is that it definitely has a mind of its own. I see it has hit a new high again this morning [Oct. 8]. But we haven't seen that frothiness that we've seen in the past. And I don't know if it's because the ETFs are involved now or whatever because it seems that maybe the retail guys have just been handed their rear end too many times and finally said, "You know what - forget it! I'll buy the ETFs instead."

Unless your product or service is one-of-a-kind, you've got competition. To beat them, you have to make sure you're the key company, the one your customers turn to above all others. How do
you do that if you're new and small?

Try these strategies:

Use your size. You're new, small and aggressive. Be more flexible than your competitors. Be willing to break self-imposed rules. ("We need 24 hours to fill large orders.") Promise personal attention-since you are the company, this shouldn't be difficult. For Chuck and I this is easy. We are the company so everyone that deals with us gets our "personal attention".

Service. Serve the customer above everything else. In the overwhelming majority of cases, service, not price, makes the difference in getting an order and keeping a client for the long
term. This means getting back to your customers. We always answer emails with 24 hours and many times before that. In addition, we always call customers back as quickly as possible.To often today, customer service is an afterthought. Make sure you don't fall into this trap, otherwise you won't be in business very long.

Stay in touch. In an age when even the smallest business can have cell phones, pagers, voice mail, fax machines and e-mail,there's no excuse for not being on call for your customers. That doesn't mean you can't have a life. It just means you can respond to inquiries with little delay. Again, this just means to get back to people in a reasonable time frame based on their needs, not yours.

Sacrifice. Take the occasional hit on profit, lose a little sleep, do a little more without always sending an invoice. If you help a customer once or twice without looking for a check in
return, you'll be remembered. When it comes time for that customer to place the next reader, you'll undoubtedly top the list. This is something we emphasize to our PFYS students during their calls to sellers. Help them, give them some advise and it will come back to you. This is part of doing business to give something back. You can't always be looking at the dollar signs!

First and foremost, you need passion?

What is Passion?

Passion is a feeling that you have -- a feeling that is so strong that it is
your driving force in doing it.

As you can see, passion is needed in any venture if you want to
succeed. With passion, it will drive you forward through the hard times,
the bad times, and the good times when developing your business.

This passion thing, I must admit, was my first stumbling block. I believed I
didn't have a passion for anything -- and feared that maybe, just maybe,
the corporate world and it 70 hour work weeks may have consumed my passion.

With more and more people turning to home-based businesses to make money, there are a lot of questions about the stability of these companies and opportunities. This list of 5 key things will help you review any home based business to see whether you are looking into a legitimate work from home opportunity or just another scam.

The Company

You need to take a hard look at the company, it’s founders, the CEO and board members. Ask yourself and the corporate team members if they are available:

* Do they know what they are doing?
* Do they have experience running a company?
* Do they have the financial backing to keep the company running for a long time?
* What kind of employees do they have?
* What is the long-term goal for the company?
* What is their business model and mission statement?

Many companies in this industry are started by former distributors of another company that want to cash in on short term profits with no plan to continue the company after 3 or 4 years. If you are planning to retire and build life long residual income with this company you had better make sure it will be around in the future.

The Products

* Rule #1… If there is no product… It is a scam! There has to be a product to sell otherwise it is a purely for profit scam.
* Be sure to evaluate the products the company offers using these guidelines:
* Is the product something people use everyday?
* Will it use up in a short time so they have to buy more?
* Will they want to buy more each month or is it a one time only purchase?
* Is it a product you can be proud to be associated with?
* Would you recommend it to your friends and family?
* Would you use it yourself?
* Is it something that people are looking for right now?
* Can people afford to buy it?

The more you can answer yes to these questions the better the product line is for you and the success of your business.

The Compensation Plan

* Do you know how you will make money? If you don’t have a full understanding of where your money comes from you will never be in the position to make the most of it you can. Most compensation plans are challenging to understand but you should know these basic things:
* When you get paid?
* How much you get paid?
* What your investment is in order to get paid?
* What qualifications do you have to meet in order to get paid?
* What the system for payout is?

You don’t need to know the compensation plan inside and out but a basic understanding is important.

As a suggestion, I would avoid binary plans that require you to have equal volumes on two sides of your business to get money. These rob people of the cash they deserve because it is very difficult to judge exactly what each of your distributors will do each month. In a binary plan, money is always left on the table for the company to benefit from. Look for a plan that pays you top dollar on all the volume you accumulate in your business regardless of what leg or level that volume is on.

You also want to look for a plan that pays out on consistently as you build your business. Some reward you when you first enroll and others require huge amounts of effort before you ever see a dime. Find one that pays you whether today is your first day or you have a team of 1000s.

Timing

People that brag about getting in and capitalizing on a ground floor opportunity are talking about joining a company at its formulation stage. There are 4 stages to growth of any successful business.

1. Formulation- This is the founding stage of a company.
2. Concentration – This is where employees and financing are added along with product refinement.
3. Momentum – Here the product and concept become popular and people begin to hear more about it while sales start growing exponentially.
4. Stability - The consumption base is built and growth slows to a stable level.

Tremendous wealth is made by those that get started during the formulation stage, but be aware, many of these “ground floor” opportunities are unstable and in many cases unsuccessful. Unless they have strong capitol backing and team of experienced leaders I would be wary of investing a lot of time or money into one. Getting in early is fantastic as long as the company can sustain itself through to the stability stage.

Training and Support

In the network marketing business this is a key ingredient. For most people, this is their first home- based business or first attempt at entrepreneurship all together. These are people from every walk of life, with every type of background. Most will not have a strong understanding of what it takes to run a business or even where to start. That is why it is very important training and support are provided by the corporate offices and upline leaders.

* Here are some things to consider when it comes to support and training:
Can you get in touch with someone at the corporate offices when you need to?
* How do you contact them? By phone? Email? Fax? Website support forum?
* When you do talk to them, are they knowledgeable?
* Do they respond to your questions in a timely manner?
* How did you find your upline leader?
* Do they know how to market a home business effectively?
* What kind of time do they have to dedicate to you and your success?
* What systems and techniques do they use to build their businesses?
* Can you easily duplicate what they do?
* Can they teach you to be a master marketer and how to be a leader in your company?

Finding the right team is the most critical part of your business. The truth is, most products can be sold, most compensation plans can be profitable, most companies can have at least decent growth but if you don’t have a system to train your team and duplicate your efforts you are wasting your time, money and energy on something that will never work!

This adsheet is then mailed to these various dealers with an offer to re-run the ads at the published rate. This is not the best method. It is better to find publishers who will send you partial page, or full page ads that pay from 50% to 100% commission. You run these ads over your name in the first few editions of your adsheet. As paid ads come in you simply replace these free commission ads with the paid ads. Until you get paid ads for your publication, you have a chance to make money whether you have paid advertisers or not. Moreover, some companies will give you substantial discounts on their various mailorder programs if you will run their ad in the first edition. Thus you can make money off of their ads and also get professionally designed mailorder programs at very little cost.

The discounts for your own ads are generally 50% with most of the mailorder publications. In return for the discount you are expected to mail a few copies. The first thing to understand is that forex market is a global market created by banks, market makers and brokerage houses where trading in currencies takes place 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The market is open to all and has the potential to give huge profits. It is also the biggest financial market in the world where trillions of dollars are traded during the course of a day. At the same time forex trading is a growing market as more traders are turning away from trading in stocks.

Trading in forex involves trading simultaneously in two currencies, which is known as a pair. When you are selecting a pair you are trading one currency against the other. The first name in the pair (base currency) is the currency you are buying and the second name (counter currency) is the currency you are selling. For example, if you choose EUR/USD you are buying the Euro against the US Dollar.

Similarly, there is a fixed format of displaying prices. The price is always of the counter currency. If the price of EUR/USD pair is shown as 1.3667 that means one Euro is trading at 1.3667 dollars.

Most prices are displayed in 4 decimal points with the exception of the Japanese Yen, whose price is displayed in 2 decimal points. The reason behind this is that the Japanese Yen is usually more than 100 Yen to the dollar. Thus, if the USD/JPY price is expressed as 108.25 it means that the Japanese Yen is trading at 108.25 to the dollar.

The minimum change that can occur in the price of a pair is called pips. It is the fourth decimal point expressed in the pair price. For example, if the price of EUR/USD changes from 1.3667 to 1.3668 it is said to have risen by one pip. This is what makes your profits run and rise instantly in forex trading.

The bid price of a pair is always listed first and the ask price is listed second. Now, what is a bid price and what is an ask price. The bid price is the price that the market is ready to buy from a seller at a given point of time. The ask price is the opposite of a bid price and is the price at which the market is willing to sell a specific pair. For example, when the price of EUR/USD is quoted as 1.3667//1.3670, the first is the bid price and the second is the ask price. The difference between the two is known as spread, which in this case is a spread of 3 pips.

Trading in equity and stocks involves commissions that a client pays to a brokerage house for trading. In the forex market the market makers and brokers earn through the concept of spread. The spread of a currency pair largely depends upon certain factors. These include but are not limited to market conditions, specific broker or market maker and the currency pair you are trading in. The currencies where trading turnover is low have a higher spread while the frequently traded currencies have extremely low spreads. Also, some brokers/market makers are known to charge more than others.

Forex trading is done in “Lots.” A LOT means the units of the base currency that you are trading in. Lots are normally termed as standard, mini and micro lots. A standard lot comprises of 100,000 units, a mini lot of 10,000 units and a micro lot of 1,000 units of a currency pair. If the EUR/USD paid is quoting at 1.3667/1.3670 and you are buying a standard lot then that means you are buying 100,000 Euros and selling short 136,700 dollars.

3) A metric that drives your economic engine and helps you measure results.

Keep in mind that according to Collins, this concept is not a goal, strategy, or plan, but an understanding of what you can and can't be the best at doing. Until you develop your hedgehog concept, you won't know your true vision, mission, or purpose.

Next, Define Your "Business Success Criteria"

Do you have a crystal clear idea of the types of business undertakings that align with your gifts, talents, passions, and strengths? In that same context, have you thought about whether your business can be the very best in the world at doing those things?

If the answers are "yes," you are in an excellent position to choose the ventures that can give you the greatest satisfaction and results.

If you're not yet totally clear about the answers to these questions, developing a set of "business success criteria" can enable you to select worthwhile endeavors with much deeper insight, and thus set the conditions for successfully pursuing them. Why is this so important? Residual Income Is Possible But Not MLM ?

Once we hear the term "residual income" associated with a home business or income stream, most of the time you can bet the business is MLM. You see, residual income is a buzz term used by MLMer's to distract your attention away from the reality that they are selling MLM (I am NOT bashing MLM, just a fact). This is because, regardless what your personal belief is about MLM, many people have been pitched about some form of MLM "over coffee" so much they don't want to hear about it any more. The good news is that residual income does NOT have to be MLM related.

There are other sources of residual income and I will summarize one in particular that I think requires the least knowledge and skill, and still produce a residual income stream for you.

You have probably heard the commercials on TV about companies that purchase structured settlements from people. Let me explain, lets say you won the lottery or received a settlement from a court case of some kind, and lets say the payout was $500,000. Lets further say you were receiving monthly payments over 20 years. At the end of those 20 years, the paying entity would have paid you $500,000.

But lets say you all the sudden have an urgent need for more money than the monthly payments are providing. What do you do? Well, you could SELL your structured payment to someone that's willing to buy it. Why would someone buy it from you? Because they are not going to pay you anywhere close to $500,000 or whatever the remaining balance is and they will structure the purchase so that they make a profit. Lets say there is $475,000 left in payments. They might not pay you any more than $150,000 for that. You get what you need, immediate cash, and they get what they want, a return on their money.

The people that buy up structured settlements are not banks usually, they are individual investors or investment groups. And in order for them to buy large settlements like this, they might need more capital to work with. Where does that capital come from? Well, it could come from people like you, or me, people who want a larger return on their money than a bank, but that do not have the personal skills or connections to do this on their own.

Why would people like you and I give money to these groups? Obviously to MAKE money in return. But, since these groups or individuals are not banks, their relationship with you and I can't be considered as an "investment". So what will they ask of you and what should you expect? Often, what they will set up with you is a "loan" situation. You can loan money to whomever you want and for any reason, legally. You can agree on the terms, or have flexible terms. In that way, you loan money to the investment group, they take your money and utilize it along with other "loaned" dollars. These groups then use their expertise in their chosen investment model to earn a return on the loaned funds. This return must be large enough to pay their own pockets with room left over to pay those who loaned the cash in the first place. Sometimes the returns paid on these loans can be quite high for people like you and I. It is possible to earn a very good income from this type of opportunity.

Other similar investment groups use the loaned funds in different ways. For example, I am familiar with one such investment group who's invested funds (on loan to them from others just like you and I) are at work in the very lucrative FOREX (Foreign Exchange) and COMEX (Commodities Exchange) arenas with a small amount in the Stock Market. Other investments include successful Internet Marketing concerns as well as their very own Sports Arbitrage program. Profits from these investments are used to enhance their programs, increase stability for the long term and best of all, pay back loaned funds at returns up to 10% a month. I know this sounds extremely high, but if you know anything about successful forex or comex traders, the good ones make a ton of money.

So, how do you find opportunities like this? They are not common, that's for sure, but if you look around you can find them. Looking for local investment clubs in the various search engines like google can be helpful. You can also get recommendations from associates whom you know invest. If they don't directly invest in this manner, they might know someone that does. However you find them, I suggest that at least some of your available funds are placed into such a program.

Does your product help your customer comply with any legal requirements? Can your product be made more appealing to your customer's children or spouse?

Integrative criteria

How does your product or service fit with your potential customer's social group or personal identity? Consumers belong to social groups. They face potential embarrassment if they don't conform. So they constantly try to strike a balance between group membership versus visibility and self-esteem. Any product or service that increases their self-esteem is emotionally satisfying.

Does your product help your customer express their identity? Can your product be described as "upscale" or "exclusive"?

Adaptive criteria

Consumers want to minimize any risk that they will regret their purchase later. The easiest solution is to avoid responsibility completely and trust the advice of others, preferably an expert. Consumers also lower their risk of future regret by imitating the buying habits of others that they assume are "in the know," by looking for guarantees, or by basing their decision on your reputation.

Are you able to offer endorsements from recognized experts? Do you have testimonials from satisfied customers? Do you offer a strong guarantee? Is it possible to offer a free trial or sample?

Intrinsic criteria

Intrinsic criteria relate to your product's basic nature--how much the consumer "likes" your product. Appeal to your customer's senses. How does your product look, feel, taste, smell or sound?

Curiosity is another intrinsic criterion. Consumers are always looking for something new and different. Familiar products are reassuring, but they are also boring. The trick is to not go too far. How to Successfully Navigate Your Business through an Economic Downturn

An economic downturn is a phase of the business cycle in which the economy as a whole is in decline.This phase basically marks the end of the period of growth in the business cycle. Economic downturns are characterized by decreased levels of consumer purchases (especially of durable goods) and, subsequently, reduced levels of production by businesses.

While economic downturns are admittedly difficult, and are formidable obstacles to small businesses that are trying to survive and grow, an economic downturn can open up opportunities. A well-managed company can realize the opportunity to gain market share by taking customers away from their competitors. Resourceful entrepreneurs capture the available opportunities, from an economic downturn, by developing alternate methods of doing business that were never implemented during a prior growth period.

The challenge of successfully navigating your business through an economic downturn lies in the realignment of your business with current economic realities. Specifically, you, as the business owner, need to renew a focus on your core clients/customers, reduce your operating expenses, conserve cash, and manage more proactively, rather than reactively, is paramount.

Here are best practices that will help you to successfully navigate your business through an economic downturn:

Goals:

The primary goal of any business owner is to survive the current economic downturn and to develop a leaner, more cost-effective and more efficient operation. The secondary goal is to grow the business even during this current economic downturn.

Objectives:

• Conserve cash.

• Protect assets.

• Reduce costs.

• Improve efficiencies.

• Grow customer base.

Required Action:

• Do not panic… History shows that economic downturns do not last forever. Remain calm and act in a rational manner as you refocus your attention on resizing your company to the current economic conditions.

• Focus on what YOU can control… Don’t let the media's rhetoric concerning recessions and economic slowdown deter you from achieving business success. It´s a trap! Why? Because the condition of the economy is beyond your control. Surviving economic downturns requires a focus on what you can control, i.e. your relevant business activities.

• Communicate, communicate, and communicate! Beware of the pitfall of trying to do too much on your own. It is a difficult task indeed to survive and to grow your business solely with your own efforts. Solicit ideas and seek the help of other people (your employees, suppliers, lenders, customers, and advisors). Communicate honestly and consistently. Effective two-way communication is the key.

• Negotiate, negotiate, and negotiate! The value of a strong negotiation skill set cannot be overstated. Negotiating better deals and contracts is an absolute must for realigning and resizing your company to the current economic conditions. The key to success is not only knowing how to develop a win-win approach in negotiations with all parties, but also keeping in mind the fact that you want a favorable outcome for yourself too.

Recommended Best Practice Activities:

The Nuts and Bolts… The following list of recommended best practice activities is critical for your business' survival and for its growth during an economic downturn. The actual financial health of your particular business, at the outset of the economic downturn, will dictate the priority and urgency of the implementation of the following best practice activities.

1. Diligently monitor your cash flow: Forecast your cash flow monthly to ensure that expenses and planned expenditures are in line with accounts receivable. Include cash flow statements into your monthly financial reporting. Project cash requirements three-to- six months in advance. The key is to know how to monitor, protect, control, and put cash to work.

2. Carefully convert your inventories: Convert excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory items into cash. Consider returning excess and slow-moving items back to the suppliers. Close-out or inventory reduction sales work well to resize your inventory. Also, consider narrowing your product offerings. Well-timed order placement helps to reduce excess inventory levels and occasional material shortages. The key is to reduce the amount of your inventory without losing sales.

3. Timely collection of your accounts receivable: This asset should be converted to cash as quickly as possible. Offer prompt payment discounts to encourage timely payments. Make changes in the terms of sale for slow paying customers (i.e. changing net 30 day terms to COD). Invoicing is an important part of your cash flow management. The first rule of invoicing is to do it as soon as possible after products are shipped and/or after services are delivered. Place an emphasis on reducing billing errors. Most customers delay payments because an invoice had errors, and therefore, will not pay until they receive a corrected copy. Email or fax your invoices to save on mailing time. Post the payments that you have received and make deposits more frequently. The key is to develop an efficient collection system that generates timely payments and one that gives you advance warning of problems.

4. Re-focus your attention on your existing clients/customers: Make customer satisfaction your priority. A regular review of your customers' buying history and frequency of purchases can reveal some interesting facts about your customers' buying habits. Consider signing long-term contracts with your core clients/customers which will add to your security. Offer a discount for upfront cash payments. The key is to do what it takes to keep your current customers loyal.

5. Re-negotiate with your suppliers, lenders, and landlord:

i) Suppliers: Always keep your negotiations on the level of need, saying that your company has reviewed its cost structure and has determined that it needs to lower supplier costs. . Tell the supplier that you value the relationship you have developed, but that you need to receive a cost reduction immediately. Ask your supplier for a lower material price, a longer payment cycle, and the elimination of finance charges. Also, see if you can buy material from them on a consignment basis. In return for their price concessions, be willing to agree to a long-term contract. Explore the idea of bartering as a form of payment.

ii) Lenders: Everything in business finance is negotiable and your relationship with a bank is no exception. The first step to successful renegotiations is to convince your lenders that you can ultimately pay off the renegotiated loan. You must point out to your lenders why it would be in their best interest to agree to a new arrangement. Showing them your business plan and your action plan that includes your cost-savings initiatives, along with "the how" and "the when" of the implementation of your plan is the best way to achieve this goal. Explain to them that you will need their cooperation to insure that you can survive, as well as, grow your business during the economic downturn. Negotiated items include: the rate of interest, the required security to cover the loan, and the beginning date for repayment. A beginning date for repayment could be immediate, within several months or as long as a year. The key is to realize that your lender will work with you, but that frequent and continual communications with them is critical.

iii) Landlord: Meet with your landlord. Explain your need to have them extend the term of your lease at a reduced cost. Make sure you have a clause in the lease agreement that entitles you to have the right to sublet any or all of the leased space.

6. Re-evaluate your staffing requirements: This is a very critical area. Salaries/wages are a major expense of doing business. Therefore, any reduction in the hours worked through work schedule changes, short-term layoffs or permanent layoffs has an immediate cost saving benefit. Most companies ramped up hiring new employees in the good times, only to find that they are currently overstaffed due to slow sales during the economic downturn. In terms of down-sizing your staff, be very careful not to reduce your staff to a level that forces you to skimp on customer service and quality. Consider the use of part-timers or the current trend of outsourcing certain functions to independent contractors.

7. Shop for better insurances rates: Get quotations from other insurance agents for comparable coverage to determine whether or not your present insurance carrier is competitive. Also, consider revising your coverage to reduce premium costs. The key is to have the right balance-to be adequately insured, but not under or over insured.

8. Re-evaluate your advertising: Contrary to the other cost-cutting initiatives, evaluate the possibility of increasing your advertising expenditures. This tactic realizes the advantage of the reduced "noise" and congestion (fewer advertisers) in the marketplace. The downturn period a great opportunity to increase brand awareness and create additional demand for your product/service offerings.

9. Seek the help of outside advisors: The use of an advisory board comprised of your CPA, attorney, and business consultant offers you objectivity and provides you with professional advice and guidance. Their collective experience in working with similar situations in past economic downturns is invaluable.

10. Review your other expenses: Target an across-the-board cost-cutting initiative of 10-15%. Attempt to eliminate unnecessary expenses. Tightening your belt in order to weather the downturn makes practical, financial sense.

Proactively managing your business through an economic downturn is an enormous challenge and is critical for your survival. However, through well-planned initiatives, an economic downturn can create tremendous opportunity for your company to gain greater market share. In order to take advantage of this growth opportunity, you must act quickly to implement the above best business practices to continue realigning and resizing your company to the current economic conditions.

After successful producing and market a wide range of cars such as proton saga, proton wira, proton waja, proton persona and many others, our national car manufacture now venturing into new market segment the MPV. Proton will producing this MPV next year and I think that it will boosting the sale of proton cars.
I have received an email that reveal this new model Proton MVP and it look very impresive to me. With the kids growing, the Proton Wira and the Proton Waja that my family own, it's seem not suitable for us anymore with means I need more space. My existing proton wira and proton waja seems like a compact car to us when all the family travel together plus with our new Indonesian maid.
Looking at the picture of the new proton MPV, I'm thinking of buying one if the price is right and if I have the extra budget for this. However, if I have a good luck , I can own this proton MPV for free because at the moment proton have come up with a simple contest to give a name to this new Proton MPV , the first prize winner will get this free Proton MPV and I think to join this contest. Every adult likes to get an invitation to a birthday party, and adults like to throw them too. Themed parties, fancy dress parties, black tie affairs and milestone parties are all fun. Here are a few birthday invitation and birthday party ideas that you might like to use for your birthday party or a friend's party to give it extra spice, novelty and excitement.

Birthday Invitation Ideas

There are plenty of opportunities for a little fun at the birthday honouree's expense when sending out birthday invitations. First you have to offer to do the invitations on behalf of the honouree. Then the fun can begin. A photo of the honouree at school, or dressed in suspect fashion for a night out, or posing on the beach. They can all form the basis for great birthday invitations. And of course, if you have the computer know-how, photographs can be touched up and altered using programs like Photoshop. Ask around to see if you know anyone who might be able to help with the high tech stuff. Otherwise, there is always the teacher's favourite, cut and paste!

Memories

A good idea for surprise parties is to compile a photo album of old photographs which can be presented as a special birthday present at the party. This will take a bit of organisation in advance. A nice idea is to have guests write some comments under the photographs, the more humorous the better. Or you can go one further and have each guest design a page of the book. In this way, each page will be different, which makes for a vibrant and fun gift. Some people put in photos, others write poems, others songs, and some attach bits of memorabilia. These are just a few ideas that you can give the guests in advance if they are unsure what to do with their page.

Milestone Years: 40, 50, 60, 70 etc

Milestone Birthdays can be great fun. An idea that works well as a semi surprise party is to offer to prepare the birthday invitation on behalf of the birthday honouree, and then to send out invitations made up like an obituary. Use a black and white picture of the birthday boy or girl in their younger years. Make the obituary as funny and warm as you can, but take great liberties with factual information, and have the deceased die in as ridiculous a manner as possible, but have the death in some way fitting with the person's interests. A golfer dies on the golf course, attacked by squirrels on the 18th green. You get the idea. Then you can have each guest write their own obituary for the deceased, which can be read out at dinner. You can have pall bearers for the cake, a 21 cap gun salute, guests could be primed to wear black arm bands or black party hats, and any other funny idea you can think of. The key is that the surprises keep coming all through the party.

A Themed Party

Themed parties are not just for kids. Adults love them too, so you could arrange one based around a special interest. As with all themed parties, every aspect of the party from the birthday invitations, the decor, the guests' mode of dress, should reflect the theme. You can give prizes for costumes, and have all sorts of associated games. The old favourites like musical chairs can work as well for adults as for kids. So get in touch with the big kid in you and hold a great birthday party!

We can even buy and sell stocks online. Traders love having the ability to look at their accounts whenever they want to, and brokers like having the ability to take orders over the Internet, as opposed to the telephone.

Most brokers and brokerage houses now offer online trading to their clients. Another great thing about trading online is that fees and commissions are often lower. While online trading is great, there are some drawbacks.

If you are new to investing, having the ability to actually speak with a broker can be quite beneficial. If you aren’t stock market savvy, online trading may be a dangerous thing for you. If this is the case, make sure that you learn as much as you can about trading stocks before you start trading online.

You should also be aware that you don’t have a computer with Internet access attached to you. You won’t always have the ability to get online to make a trade. You need to be sure that you can call and speak with a broker if this is the case, using the online broker. This is true whether you are an advanced trader or a beginner.

It is also a good idea to go with an online brokerage company that has been around for a while. You won’t find one that has been in business for fifty years of course, but you can find a company that has been in business that long and now offers online trading.

UNLOCKING THE POWERFUL SECRET MESSAGE
HIDDEN IN THE SCIENCE OF GETTING RICH

"At Paris, just after dark one gusty evening in the autumn of
18--, I was enjoying the twofold luxury of meditation and a
meerschaum, in company with my friend, C. Auguste Dupin, in his
little back library, or book-closet, au troisieme, No. 33 Rue
Dunot, Faubourg St. Germain ..."

So begins one of the most famous of all American short stories,
"The Purloined Letter," penned in 1844 by the celebrated writer
Edgar Allen Poe.

The story tells the tale of a famous woman who is being
blackmailed by a man who has stolen from her a letter containing
extremely damaging information. After the police have searched
the thief's lodgings thoroughly, looking into every possible
crack and crevice where the letter may have been concealed,
they're at a loss because they KNOW the letter is there, yet they
can't find it, no matter how hard they look.

Thoroughly bewildered and being pressured to retrieve the
incriminating sheet of paper quickly, the police prefect pays a
visit to Monsieur Dupin, a famous private detective:

"The fact is, we have all been a good deal puzzled because the
affair is so simple, and yet baffles us altogether."

"Perhaps it is the very simplicity of the thing which puts you at
fault," said my friend.

"What nonsense you do talk!" replied the Prefect, laughing
heartily.

"Perhaps the mystery is a little too plain," said Dupin.

"Oh, good heavens! who ever heard of such an idea?"

"A little too self-evident."

"Ha! ha! ha! -- ha! ha! ha! -- ho! ho! ho!" roared our visitor,
profoundly amused, "oh, Dupin, you will be the death of me yet!"

While the Prefect laughs and dismisses the idea that the letter
could be hidden right under his nose, that, in fact, turns out to
be exactly the case. The famous Detective Dupin triumphs yet
again and steals back the purloined letter which the thief has
"hidden in plain sight" by leaving it right out in the open.

Now my question to you -- in light of deepening our understanding
of The Science of Getting Rich -- is this:

 Are you Detective Dupin or the police prefect?

In other words, are you focusing so intently on what may APPEAR
to be the message of the book or what you expect it to say that
you miss out entirely on what just may be the REAL long-lost
secret of prosperity in ALL its forms, financial and otherwise?

Or, like our hero Dupin, have you spotted the "hidden"
information and had it jump right off the page and into your more
and more delightful life?

Well, if you're still a bit puzzled -- or even completely baffled
-- hang on, because we're about to walk right through the clues
'til you see it!

In any how-to manual, of course, you always find lists of do's
and don'ts to follow to achieve the desired results. And Mr.
Wattles' book is no different in that regard.

So let's take a look at a few of his prescriptions and see what
ONE THING they ALL have in common!

Mr. Wattles tells us that to practice The Science of Getting Rich
successfully we need to ...

* Understand that there is no limit to abundance.

* Accept that we are worthy and that our true desires are, too.

* Abandon competitive thought.

* Don't worry that someone else could beat you to all the good
stuff.

* Avoid unethical practices in business and elsewhere.

* Look for ways to add value in all you do.

* Spend as much time as possible contemplating your desires: See
what you want as if it is already a done deal -- imagine it
clearly, "bringing out all its delightful details."

* And take that even further: "See yourself owning and using
them. Make use of them in your imagination ... In the mental
realm, enter at once into full enjoyment of the things you want."

* Notice when your thoughts turn to worry, doubt, and fear so
that you can choose other thoughts that feel good and lead you
back to positive energy.

* Marinate yourself in gratitude! (There's a whole chapter and
more on this one aspect. That's a BIG clue!)

* Be careful what thoughts you choose to dwell on: "Things are
not brought into being by thinking about their opposites."

* Avoid dwelling on or talking about your own troubles at all.
The same is true for "horrible conditions" in certain places or
for groups of people. Never speak in a discouraged or
discouraging way.

* "Give no anxious thought to possible disasters, obstacles,
panics, or unfavorable combinations of circumstances."

* Don't rush, overwork, or waste time trying to figure out some
"strange, unusual, or remarkable action to perform as a first
step toward getting rich." Just do what you normally do but with
a new attitude, point of view, mindset.

* Not sure what action to take? Then you're not ready to act yet.
Go to gratitude, contemplate the vision of what you want, don't
rush and get yourself all anxious and uptight.

* Use your will power only to keep your mind off what you don't
want and focused on what you DO want to attract and create in
your life.


 Have you spotted a common thread yet?

Here's another clue: Pick one of the recommendations above (and
this is just a representative sampling) and imagine yourself
doing what Mr. Wattles recommends.

Now ... how does doing that cause you to feel?

If you've seen the answer, congratulations! If you haven't quite
gotten it yet, that's fine, too. We'll take it a step further.

Let's pick the first one on the list. What feels better to you --
believing that abundance is unlimited or believing that if one
person has more, someone else must go without?

Or jump down the list to "Marinate yourself in gratitude." What
feels better to you -- looking around and seeing so much to
appreciate and be grateful for? Or the opposite?

Do that with the whole list up there. Better yet, get out your
copy of the book and reread it, looking at every bit of advice
Mr. Wattles gives and noticing what is likely to be the IMMEDIATE
RESULT in your own mental and emotional state.

My friend, when you really "get" this at a deep level, you will
have the key that unlocks it ALL!

 The real secret of practicing The Science of
 Getting Rich is to focus ONLY on what makes
 you FEEL GOOD.

 Your own JOY is the secret key to all
 abundance!

You are constantly impressing your mental images on the Formless,
constantly sending out a signal, constantly asking for whatever
it is you are focusing on to be delivered to you.

Not just the things you want, but everything you give your focus,
faith, and feeling to. And that delivery is ALWAYS completed.

(Now, not every little thought that comes flitting through your
mind is going to manifest -- just the ones you dwell on. And
which ones are those? The ones you feel any emotion about.)

 So it's ESSENTIAL for you to feel as good as
 you can, as much of the time as you can.

My friend, this is great news!

It simply does NOT feel good to worry, to rush, to give less than

criticize, to soak up all the bad news in the world, to rant

Here's an example. One Sunday afternoon I was lying in a hammock
in a friend's backyard, thinking about the new home I wanted in a
new location on the other side of the country. I closed my eyes
and imagined my hammock was at the end of the dock out behind my
new house and my cruising sailboat was tied up right beside me.

As I lay there in the sunshine, envisioning all the details of my
surroundings, I imagined I could smell the salt water and hear
the docklines creaking a bit. I imagined another friend coming
down from the house suggesting we go for a sail and have dinner
at a nice restaurant on the other side of the water, and so we
did ...

A while later the back door opened and my friend came out and
said, "How long have you been out here?" And when I checked I was
astonished to find out I'd been "daydreaming" for nearly two
hours!

 I had gotten so delightfully absorbed in
 creating and contemplating my "clear mental
 image" (CMI) that I'd lost all track of time.

And the best part was that I felt incredible! You know that
little thrill you get when something wonderful happens -- a
delicious physical sensation you feel sort of all over, and it
can sometimes even make you almost shiver as you grin or laugh
right out loud?

Well, I had it big time -- and that's EXACTLY how I knew that the
reality of my CMI was on the way!

Exactly how and when delivery takes place -- that part's not up
to me. That's up to the Formless. My part is just to get crystal
clear on the desire and all its "bright promise." When I do that
-- when YOU do that! -- it feels fantastic.

So, my friend, that's the secret! And your part of the process is
simply to envision whatever it is you desire to be, do, or have,
and then PLAY with that vision until you feel great. Do it often,
until (as Mr. Wattles notes) all you have to do is think of your
desire and the whole big picture jumps into your mind and pastes
a big happy grin on your face.

All the rest -- all the heavy lifting, all the "figuring out,"
all the work -- is left to the Formless, the Universe, the
Supreme Mind, God.

Your part is just to be and feel the joy of it until INSPIRED
action just arises naturally.

During the formation process, inner flaws, or inclusions occur in most diamonds. The number and size of these inclusions determine what is referred to as the clarity of a diamond. Diamonds that are clear create more brilliance and therefore are rarer and highly priced. To be considered“flawless”, a diamond must have no surface or internal imperfections visible upon being viewed by a skilled diamond grader using 10 power magnifications.

Carat is the unit of weight by which diamonds are measured. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams. A carat is divided into 100 segments called points. 150 points would equal one and a half carats. When you go to the store to make that all important diamond purchase, do not be shy!. Ask questions, get the answers needed to make an informed purchase. Shopping for certified diamonds enables you to make an informed selection. Knowing the “four C’s” allows you to comparison shop and purchase the best diamond at a fair price. But, before making a purchase, shop around and decide what shapes and styles really appeal to you.

One way of running business is involving family member to participate in operating the business. Most of the Malaysian traditional business is running the business this way. All the family members, begin with the parent participate in running the business. In this modern days, the parent who started the business, currently teach their kid on how to run the business at early age. Today I went to Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary to give a talks on food packaging for nearly retired Department of Wildlife and National Parks officers. I took this opportunity to visit the elephant sanctuary located nearby. Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation centre was established by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks in 1989. The centre is the base for Elephant Relocation Team, which began the elephant translocation programme in 1974. The only center in Malaysia, the team is dedicated to locating, subduing and translocating elephants from areas where their habitant were encroached by plantation or other human development to other location such National Reserved Park.

Last Sunday I attended my son Kindergarten Graduation Day at Summit Complexs at Subang Jaya. I noticed that there is an opportunities to make money even at the graduation day.

The even begins with some presentations from the graduation day sponsor !. This what I means, earning money at the graduation day. After earning some extra money, my hubby today bring my family and I, to Kalumpang Waterfall at Kalumpang Selangor. Earning money is important in our life but the most important is our family. Thus we need to spend some money and time with our family. If not, we will end up owning a lot of money but loosing our family loving.

Today is the beginning of one week school holiday. When school holiday, my kids start grumbling and keep asking when we want to go vacation. That's why my hubby bring us to Kalumpang Waterfall. We move out from our apartment located at Kampung Melayu Subang, actualy our place is call section U3 Shah Alam, at 8.00 am this morning.

Driving proton waja, through Sungai Buloh road and the Kepong pass through Rawang , Serendah and then we reached at the right hand side the road to Kalumpang. If you what to this place, just look for Kalumpang Resort.

We need to locate Kalumpang Resort because the waterfall is close to this Kalumpang Resort. My hubby just looking for Kalumpang Resort and drive through housing estate to reach the Kalumpang Resort. Once you see the Kalumpang Resort you need to drive some more about 500 meters and then you see the waterfall spot.

We arrived at the waterfall at 10.00 pm which means it took 2 hours from Kampung Melayu Subang and the distance is about 80 km. So when we reached here, my hubby start to build up our tents and myself and the kids with my Indonesian maid, started to find a nice spot to swim.

The water here is so fresh and cool, and the scenario is nature. There other peoples coming here also and it's a good place to camping. Some of the visitor starting their barbecue and giving nice barbecue burning to this place. For my family, I already fried some bee hon and to eat at this water fall. This waterfall is kept clean everyday by the local authority , so you not need to worry anything and so far for me it is a safe and nature place to bring family.

At 2.30 pm , after all my kids finished and happy with their swimming and bathing, we stared packed our belonging and drive safely home. Earning money is one thing but our family is the most important. By the way we earning money for our family !

During my visit to Cameron Highland, I also visited Cactus Valley and Strawberry Farm located at Brinchang at Cameron Highland. At Cactus Valley you have to pay some enterence fee. Here you can see various types of cactus, roses and many other beautiful flower grown. Some rare species of cactus. Near the Cactus Valley there is a Strawberry Farm. At cactus valley you also can buy some cactus as a souvenir.

You can enter this strawberry farm for free. Here is some photos that I have took about this to places. If you have a chance visiting Cameron Highland, you better visit these to places. At the strawberry farm, beside strawberry, you also can buy some fresh vegetables. At these place you also can stop by to have a drink at the shop in the strawberry farm. You can taste fresh strawberry juice, fresh vegetable salad at reasonable price.

You also can buy fresh strawberry and many other strawberry products such as strawberry jam, Cameron Highland honey, tea. One product that I like is tea with strawberry flavor.

I haven't write at this blog for quite some times. You know what, I go vacation. After spending and focusing writing and working, I think I need to take a rest from this all internet thing. This is because some people say that , we can be addicted to internet. Thus, I made a decision's to left all the internet things for while,turn off my computer for a month and bring my family to a vacations.

My hubby and I, took all my family to a popular vacation spot in Malaysia, the Cameron Highland. From the name you may guest that it is a highland spot. Yes you right. Cameron Highland is about 15000 feet above the sea level.

My country Malaysia is a hot country all year round. Thus Cameron Highland give us a little be cool climate like one's in the Europe or US. That why Malaysian like to spend their vacation at Cameron Highland. The climate here is cool.There a lot of hotels that you can choose.

The Journey.

My husband drove his car from Kuala Lumpur via PLUS highway and we exit from highway at Simpang Pulai near Ipoh. I asked my friend the best way to come to Cameron Highland and they told me that you have to choose Simpang Pulai road. Yes this is true. From Simpang Pulai the road is wider and it make easy to drive to Cameron Highland.

You also can go to Cameron Highland from Tapah or from Bentong Pahang, but the road is quiet small and more hill road. This some times can make your or your kid giddy because the road circling the hill to get to the top. Different route will get you at different level at Cameron Highland.

I went through Simpang Pulai which it took me about 4 hours from Kuala Lumpur to get to Cameron Highland. This route will make you get to the highest level at Cameron Highland, this spot they called Brincang.
If you take Tapah route you will reached "Tanah Rata" first but you also can drive to Brincang and it will take about 30 minutes drive.

The Hotels.

There a lot of hotel you can choose to stay here. However, I advised that you better booking the hotel in advance before coming here, especially during Malaysia School Holiday or at Public Holiday because at this time the hotels is fully book and you may end up sleeping in your own camp..or sleeping back. There a lot of hotel you can choose such as Equatorial , Rossa Pasedena etc. My husband have made reservation at Rossa Pasedena Hotel at Brinchang. Is nice hotel. How much ?. It cost RM195 per night plus free breakfirst for 3 people. One thing about hotel at Cameron Highland there no air condition due to coolest climate but they have hot water shower.

Things To Do

There a lot of thing and places you can visit. One of the popular spot here is Strawberry Farm. If you from Europe or US you may laugh one I told that Strawberry Farm is popular spot here. But for us, Cameron Highland is the only place we can find the best place that you can see they grown strawberry. Cameron Highland also popular with their fresh vegetable farm, Roses farm, Bees Farm .At bee farm you can taste and buy fresh honey from hive.

The other thing that popular here is Cameron Highland tea. Here is the palace where they grown fresh and good tea. There also other popular spot like Cactus Farm. Here you can see very nice and beautiful cactus. I took some picture here for you to see. You need to come here to enjoy the beautiful of Cameron Highland.
